DUI charge follows fatal roll over in California

A driver accused of impaired driving in California is a serious matter. The law has little tolerance for drunk driving, and any person who is facing a DUI charge might be exploring his or her defense options. One such a driver is a 25-year-old man who reportedly caused a rollover crash in the early morning hours of a recent Monday.

The California Highway Patrol report indicates that the driver was suspected of drunk driving. Two 37-year-old passengers suffered critical injuries that led to the death of one while the other one is on life support. The driver and a third passenger suffered only minor injuries.

CHP further reported that the driver was on probation following a domestic abuse case in 2015. The probation period of three years started in June last year and prohibits him from alcohol use during this time. He is currently on bail of $100,000 while awaiting his next court appearance scheduled for a date in March. Facing a DUI charge is serious because a conviction can have severe consequences.

A conviction can adversely affect a person's professional and personal life. For this reason, most California people who face drunk driving charges seek the support and guidance of an experienced DUI defense attorney. Being accused of driving under the influence does not mean the driver is guilty, and until the prosecution can prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, that person will be innocent in the eyes of the law. A skilled criminal defense attorney will examine all aspects of the DUI charge and the tests used to establish the level of impairment. The attorney will then work on achieving the best possible outcome for his or her client.
