Navy man facing DUI charge after crash off Coronado Bridge

A freak accident at a California park in San Diego recently claimed several lives and caused injuries of varying severity to others. A 25-year-old Navy man is reportedly deemed responsible. Defending the DUI charge that was filed against him will likely now be his primary focus.

The California Highway Patrol report indicates that the accident occurred at the Chicano Park during a music festival that capped off a motorcycle event which was attended by thousands of people. Along with a stage for the musicians, many entrepreneurs had set up sales booths. CHP says a pickup truck driver was headed west onto the Coronado Bridge from Interstate 5 when he lost control of his vehicle.

Authorities say the truck went over the concrete barrier on the bridge and plummeted toward the masses in the park below. The pickup truck reportedly landed on a T-shirt booth, killing its two occupants and two bikers. Further reports indicate that two of the other nine people who were injured suffered major trauma. The pickup truck operator was arrested and charged with suspicion of driving while impaired.

The man will likely have to face more than just a DUI charge, considering the lives lost in this accident. However, the initial arrest was made on suspicion of drunk driving. Regardless, the accused man remains innocent of any charges unless and until prosecutors prove otherwise in court. With the guidance and support of an experienced California criminal defense attorney, the focus will be on achieving the best possible outcome under the circumstances.
