DUI charge may follow fiery crash injuring 3 on Highway 44

A Redding man will likely have to face serious criminal charges after a crash on Highway 44. The California Highway Patrol alleges that the 36-year-old driver was driving under the influence on a recent Wednesday afternoon in the vicinity of Skylight Ridge. It is further reported that he caused an accident with injuries, and a DUI charge is expected to follow.

According to an accident report, the accused man was traveling west in the eastbound lane of the highway while attempting to pass other traffic. When he saw an oncoming car he tried to swing back into the westbound lane but failed. He then crashed into the approaching vehicle.

The eastbound car was occupied by a 73-year-old driver and her 81-year-old passenger -- both from Shingletown. Their car erupted into flames, causing both occupants to suffer critical injuries. The driver deemed responsible suffered moderate injuries, and all three were rushed to a medical facility. Although the crash investigation is still ongoing, officials said they suspect the driver was intoxicated, and they intend to file felony DUI charges.

Any California driver who becomes aware that a DUI charge may be filed against him or her may want to be proactive and retain the services of an experienced criminal defense attorney. For this man, to have a lawyer who is seasoned in defending the rights of alleged drunk drivers may be beneficial. Such a professional can provide the necessary guidance from the onset and will endeavor to achieve the best possible results under the circumstances.
