DUI charge filed after driver allegedly struck and killed 2 teens

Facing drunk driving charges is a serious matter in California and across the nation. A 62-year-old Auburn man is facing a DUI charge after an incident in which two teenagers lost their lives. Official reports indicate that the accident occurred on a recent Sunday evening.

The California Highway Patrol reports that three teens were on their way home after being at a store. They were reportedly walking along Highway 49 when a vehicle allegedly veered off the roadway and struck them. One 15-year-old died at the accident scene, and another one was declared dead at the hospital. The third pedestrian was not injured.

Reportedly, the driver is accused of driving under the influence, and CHP says he is also suspected of being involved in an earlier accident on that same day. This incident apparently occurred not far from where the teenagers were struck. He is currently being held in custody. The media report offers no information about when and how it was determined that this driver was driving under the influence of alcohol. His level of intoxication is also not mentioned.

However, retaining the services of an experienced California DUI defense attorney may be the most appropriate step to take. Anybody who is facing a DUI charge will face serious consequences and needs the support of a lawyer who can walk him or her through the system while also assessing the circumstances and the available evidence. Every aspect of the DUI case will be reviewed for violations of the accused person's constitutional rights. Such violations can be addressed in court and may be enough to have charges reduced.
