Uber driver arrested for driving under the influence

Judging by the intensified enforcement against drunk drivers on California roads on Super Bowl Sunday, drunk driving is not uncommon on the day of the big game. Many people who want to get home safely after consuming alcohol use designated drivers or make use of services such as Uber. In one incident, though, a law enforcement officer actually arrested an Uber driver for driving under the influence on the night of the game.

Simi Valley police reported that an officer noticed a car that slowed down while approaching a green traffic light. After observing that the vehicle's front license plate was missing, he pulled the driver over. In a police report, the officer claimed that the Uber driver had no idea of his location and relied on his GPS to guide him.

According to the officer, the 46-year-old driver said he was heading to a location to pick up paying customers after watching the game at a bar. He also admitted to having completed serviced several other customers earlier. Police further claim that the driver's blood alcohol content was determined to be .25 percent. The driver was detained in the Ventura County Jail.

An experienced California DUI defense attorney will be able to protect the legal rights of anyone who is facing charges of driving under the influence. The incident report and the charges will be scrutinized. The procedures that were followed to determine the driver's level of intoxication will be investigated, as well as the arrest procedures. Based on all of the accumulated information, the lawyer can prepare a defense strategy designed to achieve favorable results in court.
