Bus driver faces DUI charge, additional accusations

When it is suspected that an adult endangered the lives of children, California law enforcers will likely have no tolerance. A 28-year-old bus driver was recently arrested and accused of endangering the lives of 28 children by transporting them while under the influence of alcohol. A DUI charge against her recently.

According to an arrest report, the bus driver was transporting the children home on a recent Friday. She was apparently driving on a dirt road that was quite narrow and attempted to make a U-turn. However, the bus became stuck in the mud and caused an obstacle for other traffic. The California Highway Patrol was called to help resolve the issue.

CHP officers reported that an odor of alcohol on the driver's breath gave rise to a suspicion of intoxication. A field sobriety test was conducted, and officers claimed that she failed the tests. Reportedly, she is currently held on bail of an unknown amount, and awaiting a court appearance that is scheduled for January.

The fact that this bus driver was arrested on a DUI charge does not mean she will be convicted. Until and unless the prosecution can prove her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt in court, she will remain innocent under California law. Nevertheless, an experienced drunk driving defense attorney may be helpful in navigating the legal proceedings to follow. A lawyer can scrutinize the evidence and any apparent irregularities by officers during the arrest process can be challenged in court. With an attorney's guidance and support, the best possible outcome may be achieved.
