Lakeport rollover leads to driving under the influence charge

Many young adults in California do not realize the consequences of drunk driving. California authorities are intolerant of DUI drivers, and any offenders will pay the price. Driving under the influence may result in arrest and could jeopardize any young person's future career. Although drivers often feel sober enough to drive, their blood alcohol content may prove otherwise.

Lakeport police reported a rollover accident that occurred just after midnight on a recent Sunday. A 23-year-old man apparently drove onto a curb and then smashed into a stone wall. His car rolled over, and when the accident was reported to the police, the driver was said to be inside the car. However, upon arrival at the accident scene, police found that the driver had managed to get out of the car.

The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle. Police suspected the driver to be impaired, and the investigation showed that his blood alcohol content level was triple the legal limit of .08 percent. The police arrested the driver and he was taken into custody on misdemeanor DUI charges, along with exceeding the legal blood alcohol level and vandalism. He was released after posting the required amount for bail that is set at $15,000.

When drivers in California find themselves facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, they may want to do what is necessary to limit the consequences such charges could cause. It is important for the accused driver to fully understand the details of each individual charge. By understanding the laws concerning DUI, the accused driver could prepare a defense that may minimize the impact of the charges.
