Father in custody for suspicion of driving under the influence

California residents are likely aware of the potential repercussions of driving while impaired. Individuals who have been arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence may want to be proactive in seeking advice on the best way to defend such a charge. It is not uncommon for impaired drivers to also commit additional offenses, such as driving with a suspended license, which can escalate the need for someone to protect their interests in a court of law.

A deputy of the Napa County sheriff's office recently pulled a 32-year-old man from Antioch off the road because his vehicle registration had allegedly expired. Upon searching the man and the vehicle, some methamphetamine was reported to have been found, and the deputy said the driver appeared to be under the influence of drugs. In addition, it was determined that the driver, who had his two young children in the car with him, was on probation.

The driver was arrested on several charges, including endangering the lives of his 8- and 10-year-old children while his driver’s license was suspended. The suspicion of being in possession of drugs was added to the charges. The man’s bail was set at $50,000, and he is being held in the county jail.

Residents of California who are being held on suspicion of possessing drugs or driving under the influence will be given the opportunity to defend themselves in a court of law. Accused individuals may benefit from focusing on the specific allegations in the case, while challenging the evidence offered by prosecutors. While the outcome of this case is still unknown, a guilty verdict can only result from the prosecutors presenting evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
