Was California man driving under the influence at time of crash?

During the holidays, the number of accidents seem to increase. The number of individuals driving under the influence may increase as well. A recent California accident has left one individual dead and another potentially facing charges for driving under the influence.

The accident occurred on a weekend at approximately 3 a.m. A car crashed into a bedroom at the home, apparently causing the frame to collapse and killing a man. The man who was killed had previously been an alcoholic but had been sober for 27 years at the time of the accident.

The man driving the car was arrested at the scene while his passenger was questioned and released. According to reports, it was said that he was arrested for possibly driving under the influence. Although these charges are very serious, especially when a man's life has been taken, it is important that all facts are brought to light. It was not mentioned how it was determined that the man was allegedly intoxicated or if any field sobriety tests or blood tests were given. However, these details could be a factor when moving forward with a defense.

California residents facing similar charges of driving under the influence may want to have an understanding of their rights as soon as possible. When facing serious charges, taking quick action could prove beneficial to the defendant. Even if a person is found guilty, a plea bargain or lesser charge may be a possibility. However, this is on a case-by-case basis, so knowing one's rights and understanding if they are eligible for such deals can be helpful moving forward.
