California man facing a DUI charge after pedestrian accident

California residents may be aware of the negative repercussions a person can face as the result of a DUI charge if the situation is not handled in the best possible manner. The media can possibly pay a part in people's reactions as not all details are typically reported. A recent accident involving two pedestrians and a man driving an SUV has left the driver facing a DUI charge.

The accident occurred when a man driving an SUV struck two women that were crossing the street. Both women were reportedly in the crosswalk at the time of the incident. A 30-year-old woman received injuries that consisted of a fractured thigh bone and knee. A 25-year old woman with her received cuts and bruises. Both women were transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment of their injuries.

The man arrested was described as a 49-year-old man. No specific information regarding the circumstances of his arrest was given. It is not known if any type of sobriety test or other means was testing was performed to determine a blood alcohol level content. When facing serious charges such as these, details can be important for the man's defense moving forward.

Any California resident facing a DUI charge may want to familiarize themselves with the applicable state laws for their specific situation. Since every circumstance is different, knowing the best course of action a person can take for their situation can prove beneficial. With an appropriate understanding, a person can be more hopeful to receive a lighter sentence or possibly a plea deal depending on the charges and any prior convictions.
