California driver facing DUI charges after theft and crash

DUI charges can be life changing and can happen for many reasons. Maybe a person makes a onetime mistake or maybe they have an addition that requires treatment. A recent California accident that resulted in DUI charges has changed the lives of not only the victim's family, but the accused as well.

The crash occurred at approximately two in the morning. The two suspects were said to have robbed a convenience store prior to the accident. They reportedly stole beer before speeding off in a gray vehicle. The driver's identity has yet to be determined and the victim's name isn't being released yet.

The driver was making a turn and apparently failed to negotiate the curve taking out a parked car which resulted in a chain reaction that ultimately included five cars. The passenger of the car was pinned in the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was injured, however, those injuries do not appear to be life threatening. While the investigation is ongoing, the driver is facing felony DUI charges as well vehicular manslaughter. It could be in the driver's best interest to go ahead and familiarize him or herself with the local laws.

Any California resident facing DUI charges could benefit from knowing their rights under the applicable state laws. By taking a proactive approach, a person can know the multiple options available and how to best face their charges. This can help a suspect feel confident they will receive a fair judgment.
